Update on May 14th, 2025: The moose season has started and the conditions for seeing moose are excellent! Last weekend on a safari we saw 8 moose including a tiny newborn!
The booking calendar below shows only some of the availability (primarily on Wednesdays and Fridays) for a fast booking, but we do safaris on other days too! Please contact us if you need another day for your safari. We take bookings between May and October in 2025.
Moose Safari offers a rare, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see wild moose in their natural habitat—fairly close to the center of Helsinki. Moose Safari may be the only guided tour provider in the world that specializes exclusively in moose tours starting from the heart of a capital city. We have operated since 2016 and we know the ways of the moose. Moose sightings are guaranteed: we will see moose or you can have your money back.
Choose between a private tour (just for you or your group) or a shared tour with a small group of like-minded nature enthusiasts. Booking early is recommended to ensure your preferred date is available and fits your travel plans but you are also welcome to ask about last minute possibilities.
The tour in a nutshell:
The shared tour starts from the center of Helsinki near the the Central Railway Station. The private tour includes a pick-up and drop-off to your doorstep. Just 30 minutes from the center of Helsinki we start to be in areas with animals! Moose are the main stars of the show, but we will see lots of other animals too including deer, birds, hares, small predators and on rare occasions large predators! Wolves and lynxes live in the area and we have seen them! It is rare to see them, but their presence adds to the excitement.
Small group:
The tour is limited to just 4 participants. The smaller the group, the better from the point of view of enjoying animal-watching. When we get outside the car, a small group of people is less intimidating for animals than a larger group would be. If your group has more than 4 people, please contact us because it may be possible a organize a tour for you in that case too.
Pricing and availability of a private tour:
For your own group of 3-4 people the price is approximately 140 euros per person and can be a little lower or higher depending on the details. You are welcome to a private tour also if you are just 1 or 2 people but please notice that in that case the price is a bit higher per person to reflect the overall cost of organizing a private tour. Please inquire about price and availability here and we will tailor a tour that fits your needs. Please notice that the booking calendar below does not show the availability of private tours.

Details:
Is it certain we are going to see moose? Yes. So far we have seen moose on every tour since Moose Safari started in 2016 (on tours between May and October). Every tour is different which is part of the excitement, but it is certain that we will see moose.
Duration: Approximately 4 hours, most typically from 7 or 8 PM to 11 PM or midnight depending on the daylight hours in Helsinki.
Children: If you have children under the age of 7, please contact us and we will arrange a private tour for you to better cater for your needs.
Fitness? We will observe wildlife from the car or walking near the car, so a very basic level of fitness is enough.
